Thursday, March 17, 2011 at 10:19AM The Burleigh Longboard Club was founded in 1991 and on April the 24 & 25, 2011 our Club will celebrate its 20th anniversary with the annual “ANZAC Day Dawn Surface. Our unique longboard competition attracts elite surfers, both local and interstate with the odd overseas surfer in an array of divisions from seniors (over 35’s,just turned old), Masters (Over 50’s,bloody old) and the Grand masters (over 60’s,over the Hill). Our premier events are the Men’s open and Women’s open, in 2010 Jackson Close stamped his name on the Men’s trophy with a commanding performance against some of Australia’s best Longboarders.
Monday, March 7, 2011 at 04:45PM After a dramatic start to the year with unprecedented natural disasters, which only brings home how important our mates and family are. Two of our members Peter Wickham and Tony Anstee travelled up the road to help our neighbors at Ipswich clean up after the devastating flood, good work boys. Over the past twelve months a few of our club members (Mates) have had health issues during the year and we all hope and wish them a speedy recovery, other members like Jackson and Jamie Close are looking forward to becoming parents. Jacksons consistent form throughout the year against some elite surfers, placing him high up in the top echelon of world surfing and making impressive in roads into the Stand up paddle board circuit as well, hoping Jackson will take time from his busy schedule to compete in our local comp. throughout the year (just a few Jackson).
